Age 11, female, 5'8, 172 lbs - It really isn't fair to have people pay fines for being obese. Sometimes, quitting fatty foods is difficult. America is full of fat people too, so if something like that comes into action, it would likely lead to many protests. And to be healthy is the option of every person. Besides, why does the government care about obesity so much. I mean, they are making more money with food prices, plus-size clothing, and fat people products. If anything, governments are probably trying to make us fatter. - I live in America - A school course grade would motivate me to lose weight. Age 17, female, 5'6", 235 lbs - Although people will be motivated to lose weight it will also lower the self esteem of the people because they will be embarrased they must pay a fine because of their weight. It is not fair to discriminate (because that's what they are doing) against those struggling with weight issues. Everyone has certain aspects of their life they are not very proud of and everyone has struggles to deal with, so why are people humiliataing and embarrassing people and making them feel ashamed and unloved because of a specific struggle they must deal with. If this is the case we should also make people pay fines for having relatioships that don't work out, kids that do not listen, are underweight, believe in something, believe in nothing, or are a certain political party as well. None of that seems right and making people pay fines for being overweight is wrong too. And if people want to say it is right because it is an epidemic then we should make people who have diseases pay fines or are associated with any other kind of epidemic pay too. All in all it is wrong to discriminate against people on the basis of weight. - I live in the United states - A school course grade would not motivate me to lose weight.
